Pinterest - statistics & facts
A pretty, yet stealthy, social media contender
Since being founded in 2009, Pinterest has managed to stay out of the headlines somewhat more than other well-known social platforms but generally achieves a positive user opinion. In June 2024, the platform received a user satisfaction rating of 74 out of a possible 100 points. This ranks Pinterest above Facebook, X, and Snapchat when it comes to user satisfaction. When it came to audience growth, Pinterest saw a 10.6 percent increase in users between 2024 and 2025, another achievement that puts the network ahead of Instagram and TikTok.
Pinterest鈥檚 loyal fan base
Much of Pinterest鈥檚 content focuses on creative inspiration, including DIY projects, lifestyle ideas, fashion, home decor, and recipes. Women aged 18 to 24 years made up the largest share of Pinterest鈥檚 global audience, accounting for 20 percent of its total user base. Across all age groups, women were far more likely than men to be active on Pinterest. Moreover, Pinterest gathers over 96 million trustworthy users in the United States. An online haven for self-expression
Pinners often use the platform to find colorful and creative ways to express themselves. Between 2023 and 2024, searches for Leopard print jeans increased by almost 3,000 percent. Nail art is also a popular search term amongst users, as well as makeup trends. These search terms would of course not be complete without discovering a brand-new hair trend. Honey brown curls and cherry blonde were popular hair trend searches in 2024.Let鈥檚 put a pin in it
Social media platforms are heavily dependent on users' content posting and interaction. Luckily for Pinterest, average post engagement increased to 5.93 percent in 2024 from 4.36 percent in 2023.
