China tops the list based on PPP
Although in nominal terms the United States is still the world's largest economy, when adjustments for purchasing power parity (PPP) are made, China edges the United States as the world's largest economy. This adjusted figure better reflects the real volume of goods and services produced in a country by accounting for differences in local prices. On this basis, China's GDP was estimated to be trillion dollars in 2026, followed by the U.S. at trillion and then India atÌý trillion.

Global gross domestic product amounted to approximately trillion U.S. dollars this year, compared with trillion dollars in 2025. Since 1980, theÌýglobal economy has grown almost every year, with 2009 and 2020 being the notable exceptions when it didn't.
