A November 2021 survey of gamers in the United States found that not a single prospective metaverse payment methods stood out as a clear favorite. In-game tokens were stated to be the most popular payment and value exchange method with 47 percent of responding gamers being willing to use this option. However, Crypto and government controlled currencies followed closely behind with 46 percent of respondents selecting these payment methods. Only NFTs were not as popular as the majority of payment options, being less than half as popular as the closest other payment option.
