Since 2013, Plastics are no longer listed as a separate BASF segment.
On September 27, 2018, BASF and LetterOne merged their oil and gas businesses in a joint venture. The new joint venture operates under the name Wintershall DEA. Since the agreement was signed, BASF no longer reports on its oil and gas business as a separate Oil & Gas segment.
In 2019, the Functional Materials & Solutions segment was divided into the Materials and Surface Technologies segments.
The Performance Products segment was divided in the Nutrition & Care and Industrial Solutions segments in 2019.
BASF's revenue in the Chemicals segment amounted to approximately ** billion euros in 2025. Four of the company's seven segments reported a decrease in revenue when compared to the previous year. BASF is the leading diversified chemical company worldwide and is headquartered in Ludwigshafen, Germany. The company sold some of its automotive coating business in 2025, resulting in a standalone business resulting in less sales for BASF's surface technologies segment in 2025.
