Since the first digital health application (DiGA) was added to the BfArM DiGA directory in September 2020, around **DiGAs have been redeemed by insured persons (as of 31 December 2024). In 2024, around ***of these applications were used, representing an increase of about ** percent compared with the previous year.

After a physician issues a DiGA prescription or after the relevant health insurance approval, the patient receives an activation code. This code enables them to use the service. The DiGA manufacturer can only bill the patient’s health insurance for the costs once the code has been activated.
