The glacier Vatnajökull is the largest in Iceland, covering over square kilometers, which is equal to eight percent of Iceland's total land area. It is also the largest glacier in Western Europe. Langjökull is the country's second largest glacier, followed by Hofsjökull. Iceland's glaciers are melting rapidly due to global warming.
