Home Appliance & Air Solution is LG鈥檚 most profitable segment
Part of the conglomerate LG Corporation, LG Electronics generates its revenue from several business segments, including Home Appliance & Air Solution, Home Entertainment, Vehicle Component Solutions, Business Solutions, as well as LG Innotek and its subsidiaries. LG鈥檚 Home Appliance & Air Solution segment alone generated over 23 billion U.S. dollars in revenue in 2024, followed by Home Entertainment, which brought in around 10.7 billion U.S. dollars in revenue in the same year. Overall, the South Korean giant reported 61 billion U.S. dollars in annual revenue in 2024, with LG鈥檚 net income amounting to 414 million U.S. dollars.LG faces stiff competition
LG faces tough competition, including the likes of other tech giants such as Apple, Sony, and Panasonic in the聽consumer electronics market聽and Haier Smart Home, Whirlpool, and Electrolux in the聽household appliance industry. Samsung is considered one of LG鈥檚 biggest competitors, as both South Korean companies offer highly competitive product lines across a variety of consumer electronics devices and household appliances, such as refrigerators, washing machines, and air conditioners. Furthermore, like Samsung, LG Electronics has maintained its position as one of the聽largest TV manufacturers, occupying over 15 percent of the market. By contrast, despite the鈥痑lmost 25 million聽smartphone units鈥痵old聽in 2020, in April 2021, LG officially confirmed that they will no longer engage in the smartphone market.LG is proactively addressing future challenges by focusing on platform-based services and strategic R&D investments.
