Her omnipresence both in and outside the music industry has generated an immense buzz around her persona. Since her first album in 2006, Taylor Swift has managed to build a global brand around her music. According to an analysis from 2023, she officially became a billionaire after making approximately 370 million U.S. dollars through ticket sales and merchandise. Another main component of her income is the release and re-release of her music. However, 2023 seemed to be the year of Taylor Swift in other regards as well. Her Eras Tour, which she launched in March, grossed over one billion U.S. dollars, becoming the highest grossing tour of all time. Additionally, it is estimated that Swift even boosted the U.S. economy with her tour, by 5.7 billion U.S. dollar Yet, she did not stop there, turning her tour into a concert film, which quickly became the most successful concert film in history. By the end of the year, she was globally and subsequently Time Magazine named her 鈥淧erson of the Year鈥.A female trailblazer in the music industry
While 2023 was a successful year for Swift, she has been leading the pop genre for some time. The American singer-songwriter has received an overwhelming number of awards for her music and her music videos. With 40 wins, she is the most-awarded artist of the American Music Awards as well as the Billboard Music Awards. Additionally, the musical trailblazer earned the most Album of the Year wins at the Grammy awards with four victories as of 2024 as well as the most Video of the Year wins at the MTV Video Music Awards. The artist's debut album 鈥淭aylor Swift鈥 was grounded in country music, but her switch to pop music thereafter led to a significant fanbase - so-called Swifties - and generated substantial media interest. However, according to a study from 2023, her most popular albums are later releases, namely the albums 1989 and Fearless. As of 2024, she has released ten studio albums in total, while also re-recording four of her albums after the rights to her music were bought by music producer Scooter Brown. Swifties have also been analyzing the artist鈥檚 easter eggs and her changing profile picture across all social media platforms to a black-and-white version, which led to speculations that she was preparing to release Reputation (Taylor's Version), a forthcoming re-recording of her sixth studio album. However, Swift surprised her fans during the Grammy ceremony 2024 by announcing that her new album The Tortured Poets Department is set to drop on April 19, 2024, featuring 16 brand new songs.
