Silicon Saxony - statistics & facts
The beating heart of Europe's microelectronics industry, and one of Germany's largest IT, high-tech, and artificial intelligence clusters, can be found in the state of Saxony. Silicon Saxony is the registered industry association for over 550 member companies operating in these sectors. Approximately one-third of all chips in Europe originate from this region, making the Dresden area an important hub for the European semiconductor industry. And, with the semiconductor giant TSMC announcing plans to open a production facility in the region, Silicon Saxony is set to remain an important part of Germany’s high-tech sector.
