Fonasa stands for Fondo Nacional de Salud; it is a public institution.
Isapre stands for Instituciones de Salud Previsional; it is a private institution.
FF.AA. stands for armed forces; Chile has established a special insurance scheme for their armed forces.
In 2020, the FONASA, Chile's public health coverage scheme, covered approximately **** percent of the population. Meanwhile, about **** percent of Chileans were covered by ISAPRE, a private health insurance provider. Overall, the health coverage rate in the South American country increased by *** percentage points, from **** percent in 1990 to **** percent in 2020.
