Coffee production
Coffee is one of the most consumed hot beverages worldwide. Brazil, the leading producing country in the world, accounts for ** percent of global coffee production. Over the past three years, the country has produced between ** and ** million 60-kg bags of coffee annually. Vietnam ranked second among coffee producers with about ** percent of global production. Indonesia was in third place in terms of coffee production from 2012 to 2013 but was overtaken by Colombia in 2014. In 2021/2022, more than *** million bags of coffee were produced worldwide.
The coffee trade is one of Brazil's most thriving industries. In 2016, about *** million hectares of farmland were dedicated to green coffee harvesting. Approximately million bags of Brazilian coffee were exported in December 2017 alone. Predictably, the country was also the largest coffee consumer on the South American continent that year. Meanwhile, Finland ranked first among coffee-consuming countries, followed by Canada, Sweden, and Germany.
