In 2024-2025, the Gates Foundation was the largest contributor to the World Health Organization (WHO), contributing around 761 million U.S. dollars in voluntary contributions. Meanwhile, the United States, which was previously the largest contributer, decreased its voluntary donations for the biennium and has officially left the World Health Organization as of January 22, 2026.

Assessed contributions are a country's membership dues for being a member of the WHO and are a percentage of the country's gross domestic product (GDP). However, the majority of the WHO's funding comes from voluntary contributions from member states and other United Nations organizations, intergovernmental organizations, and philanthropic foundations such as the Gates Foundation.
