Asia had the largest average carbon factor worldwide in 2024, emitting **** metric tons of carbon dioxide per metric ton of oil equivalent energy consumed (tCO₂/toe). The Pacific region followed closely, with an average of **** tCO₂/toe. Africa and Latin America had the lowest carbon factors in 2024, with both regions emitting 1.68 tCO₂/toe and 1.67 tCO₂/toe each. Most regions have reduced their carbon factors over the past two decades as many countries have shifted towards cleaner energy sources.
