In 2023, total of 4,782 antisemitic incidents were reported to the federal association RIAS e.V. in Germany. Seven of these were cases of extreme violence. These are defined as physical attacks or assaults that could result in death or serious bodily harm. The most common type of incident, on the other hand, was ‘hurtful behavior’ with 4,060 reported cases in 2023. This term covers all anti-Semitic statements made against Jewish or Israeli people or institutions.
