Most of the lending to individuals written-off by financial institutions in the United Kingdom (UK) in the first quarter of 2026 were unsecured loans. Mortgage write-offs only amounted to million British pounds, a fraction of the values for credit cards and other personal loans. Nevertheless, the outstanding value of personal loans secured on dwellings was much higher than that of consumer credit.
