According to National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC) data, the Bering Sea ice extent was over square kilometers in July 2026. Compared with the previous month’s square kilometers, the Bering Sea’s ice extent declined sharply. Warmer air temperatures in all seasons and severe sea ice loss, ecological changes, and ice sheet mass loss are rapidly transforming the Arctic environment.
