* The Decarbonizing Energy Scenario (DES) discusses alternatives to further reduce COâ‚‚ emissions in the energy system, as much as the energy context of countries allows, in addition to suggestions provided during the engagement process. This is not necessarily a net zero scenario by 2050.
Electric vehicles includes the acquisition costs of electric motorcycles, cars, SUVs, Vans, minibuses, buses and small and large trucks. Transport Infrastructure includes the acquisition cost of private and public electric vehicles chargers. Cooking includes the acquisition costs of electric stoves. Heating includes the acquisition cost of electric heaters.

Under a Decarbonizing Energy Scenario, technology costs adding up to roughly *** billion U.S. dollars would be needed for electrification of end-use sectors in Central America during the 2018-2050 period, according to a study. The electric vehicles sector is expected to have the largest technology costs, at nearly *** billion dollars, or ** percent of the total. In contrast, technologies associated with heating and cooking in commercial buildings are estimated to amount to some *** million dollars.
