As a result of the Facebook platforms outage on October 4th, 2021, people spent more time in competitor apps compared to the previous week. While Facebook lost 24 percent of user time spent on the platform, and Instagram 28 percent, Snapchat saw the highest week-over-week growth of time spent in the app, 23 percent. Among the observed apps, TikTok had the smallest growth of time spent on the platform, only two percent. The time users spent in Telegram and Signal grew almost equally, 15 and 18 percent respectively.
