Maize is the main ingredient for producing bioethanol sold as fuel on the German market. In 2018, some **** petajoules worth of maize went towards producing bioethanol for the German transportation sector. While bioethanol is won largely from cereal crop, wastes and residues are the most commonly used raw materials in German biodiesel.
